Ambassador’s Message

As my year as your 2015/2016 Ambassador comes to an end, I have the great pleasure of ushering in the 180th annual Fergus Fall Fair as we commemorate the theme; “Maple – Sap to Syrup”. It has been an honour to represent our community and the Fergus Agricultural Society throughout my many wonderful experiences. During my time as ambassador I have had the opportunity to further develop my knowledge of agriculture and share with many, the importance of our local fall fairs, while encouraging our youth to participate in our beloved event.

Throughout my title, I have attended many local and provincial agricultural events that have broadened my knowledge of Ontario’s rural life while allowing me to meet many leaders in agriculture. I have been fortunate to get to know multiple ambassadors from rural towns all over Ontario, creating friendships that will last a lifetime. I had the privilege to be the spokesperson for our community enabling me to promote rural life in Centre Wellington.

As I got to know my fellow ambassadors it became more evident to me the scope of knowledge that we obtain throughout this experience. Ambassador oriented events gave us the opportunity to share our knowledge with our community; knowledge that can inspire our youth to take a more active role in an agricultural future, or simply teach them to “Thank a Farmer”.

I thank all the individuals that volunteer their time to create such a wonderful Fall Fair, and all the fair-goers who submit items for judging, show livestock and support the midway to make our event a success! My sincere thanks to the Fergus Agricultural Society for all their support and direction along the way, and the ambassador committee and past ambassadors for their continuous guidance and mentorship.

I encourage you all to come out and experience our rural and urban communities together at our 180th annual Fall Fair, on September 16, 17 and 18, 2016, as we celebrate; “Maple – Sap to Syrup”.
