Sadly, as my time as the 2016/2017 Fergus Fall Fair Ambassador comes to an end, I am excited to pass down my title at this year’s fair “4-H: 100 years in Wellington County”. It was a huge privilege and honour to be able to represent the Fergus Agricultural Society throughout many events this year. I was able to expand my knowledge of agriculture and share what I learned throughout the community. It was heartwarming to share the importance of agriculture at the local fair with the youth.
During my title as ambassador I have had the opportunity to attend different agriculture events locally and provincially. These events have allowed me to develop my awareness of the Ontario agriculture industry. In addition, I met many agriculture leaders who guided me throughout my ambassador journey. I am so thankful to be able to have met other ambassadors from the province at other local fairs and at the Ontario Agriculture Association Convention. This opportunity has given me the chance to create friendships that will be life long. It has truly been a privilege to be a representative of Centre Wellington.
I would like to thank all those who volunteered, participated and attended the local Fergus Fall Fair. Without the support of the community, our local fair would not be such a success. It is events like the fair that give our town the opportunity to see the hard work and sacrifice that those in agriculture do to be able to bring “Food to Table”. I sincerely thank the Fergus Agriculture Society for the assistance and leadership during my time as ambassador. As well, thank you to the ambassador committee and past ambassadors for their tremendous guidance and support.
I hope many are able to attend this year’s fair and together celebrate this year’s theme of “4-H: 100 years in Wellington”.
